This year the California Water Association in collaboration with Supplier diversity to host the Meet the primes 2025 event. This brought together small business vendors, primes and industry leaders to collaborate in discussing innovating water solutions. "I don't know anywhere else in California where you can come and hear directly from the buyers of the seven largest water utilities in the state." Kirby Hays CEO & President of Hal Hays Group reported. Some attendees came with the hope of finding subcontractors that they can work with. "Contractors in today's world, including clients, are looking for quality and safety above all else. So make sure that when you promise that you can do something you can deliver on that promise." Shane Sato, W.A Rasic Construction Company Division Manager relayed this important advice. The event was also proudly sponsored by these water companies; California American Water, California Water Service, Golden State Water Company, Liberty, San Gabriel Valley Water Company, San Jose Water, and Suburban Water Systems.

There were pitch competitions that were held whereby Janelle Hartley Envirogage founder was announced by the CWA team as the winner. She delivered a strong pitch that was able to move the judges and her audience. There was also the Melanie Ray Small Business Joy Award which went to Lee Anne Davis founder of Promo Ventures. She was commended for her work of representing small businesses. Holley Joy of Liberty utilities Supplier diversity manager strongly concluded, "You already know what it is you can do, and where your strengths are. Stand on that and I promise people will see that confidence, they'll respect it, speak with you and help if they have the ability to help."
Lauren James, director of communications for Suburban Water Systems strongly advised the attendees not to overpromise but to actually deliver. "Know the safety culture, know the net terms, and make sure you guys are all in agreement and communicate effectively in order to build a strong relationship with a prime," she added. From attendees gaining insider tips on doing business with water utilities to creating new partnerships in real time, the event proved that coming together with a shared determination can bring meaningful change to the community.
The Next Level 24/7 team boldly helped represent the event by taking phots and videos and organizing interviews that helped showcase how important and meaningful the gathering was. A huge thankyou to all who joined and supported the event and we look forward to collaborate more in future events.
